ArtaFilms is a creative team of dedicated freelance professionals in all areas of filmmaking focussed on creating innovative cinematic works. In our philosophy no project is too ambitious or too small and no place on earth too remote for producing compelling films, documentaries and advertising.

STRANGER WITH A CAMERA...
Born on the southern shores of Caspian Sea, Bijan initially studied electronics and aeronautics in Europe. Later as a research scientist driven by innovative ideas, he patented and won several prestigious awards for his pioneering scientific works mainly in advanced medical imaging for early detection of breast cancer collaborating with top scientists worldwide.
Passionate about photography and filmmaking at an early age and attracted to works of mythical directors and writers such as Bergman and Brecht, he turned to filmmaking having learnt theatre mise en scène in Switzerland and France followed by film schools in United Kingdom and United States.
Polyglot and enthusiastic pilot, Bijan travelled the world as a freelance ciné-journalist interviewing many renowned international film stars and film directors and participated as filmmaker in numerous quality film and TV productions. In 1996 he started ArtaFilms dedicated to cinematic works of a distinctive style and sensibility, fruit of his nonconformist vision and multicultural background.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES ...
Those films that change our perception of the world are often unforgettable. The following production, a poetic drama based on an original story about a disillusioned soul on her mystical journey of self-discovery is a contemporary drama with universal themes of disillusionment and true love. The screenplay is definitely not a conventional one loaded with usual sub-plots and twists. The script purposely minimal is a blueprint to build-up the characters and their insight particularly through cast contribution and subtle improvisation. Emphasis is on expressive honest performance and aesthetic imagery.

Story’s underlying excitement and spiritual quest generates a sensation of freedom and detachment from agitation of modern life. It is the missing link in our lives that moves the main characters towards captivating adventures. They may not find tangible answers but nevertheless they have new questions and zestful dreams.
This is very much a film for this era of increasing solitude (despite all our sophisticated communication toys!), stereotype conformity and relentless commercialism. The objective is to portray a refreshing voyage of self-discovery full of subtle nuances and vividly visualise the unfolding events with its own cinematic style.
Therefore, avoiding clichés and expensive gimmicks, this film stands out at least for its original story, provoking simplicity and innovative cinematic style: creative use of hand-held camera, long takes, selected colours, minimalist lighting, uncluttered settings, enchanting eastern sounds and vast desert locations... emptiness where beauty and dynamics of life are created.
